SD40VE budget .40 s&w that is actually good.

Around December I purchased an SD40VE, and having previously owned a Sw9VE, I didnt have high hopes for this pistol. I purchased this due to the great price, and frankly there was nothing wrong per say with the sigma other tham the trigger pull and the lack of accessories rail, so I wanted to give this a try and see if the trigger was lightened.

first impressions of the pistol is it looks good. The SD40VE has alot of likeness to the higher priced M&P but has the feel in the hand like the sigma, and to be honest, the sigma felt pretty good. The sd40 has a nice front and rear slide serrations, the grip has a refined texure pattern, the pistol has a standard accesories rail, and the trigger was dropped from 12lbs to a nice crisp 8lbs trigger. The SD40VE comes in the standard blue cardboard box with 2 mags, just like the other budget freindly pistols they offer.

first range trip with the SD40ve, I put 200 rounds downrange without cleaning. The mags were VERY stiff, but all the rounds functioned flawlessly. I was making fairly accurate groups (about hand sized) at around 15 yards.The SD40Ve has very basic 3 dot plastic sights which can be replaced with any sights used on the M&P series of pistols.

this pistol, while not the very best ever gun created, isnt bad for the $330 out the door that I paid. I do carry this pistol occasionally, but for the most part it is my bed side gun, with a NEBO tactical light attached. The SD40 will also use M&P holsters and Sigma mags which is nice.
